Besides the usual usage of cleaning out cuts, here are some things you might not have thought of:

Mix the alcohol with a bit of water, and use a cotton ball to clean the screen of your laptop or touch-screen phone.

Use the alcohol with a cotton ball to remove makeup. (dilute it a but if it makes your skin too dry) - and always apply lotion afterward.  I’ve even used this to remove the sticky Band-Aid residue left over.

Remove stickiness from things! When you purchase a frame with a sticker on the glass - the alcohol will get the stickiness off.

Wipe down your remotes, phones, and anything else with alcohol to kill all germs.  (Purel is just 62% isopropyl alcohol)

Clean your eyeglasses with diluted alcohol.  We have that expensive Pearl Vision spray stuff…. but looking at the ingredients, it’s simply isopropyl alcohol!

Does anyone else have any interesting uses for things we have tucked in our cupboards?  I’ve tried hydrogen peroxide as a mouth rinse (I think I had a cut in my mouth) - and boy did it get really foamy!  It was very weird.

This is a video of Nicole Eggert, some years after she was a hottie on Baywatch.

This bugs me because she looks great still!  She has a NORMAL body.  She’s not freakishly skinny, and she finally got rid of that awful wedgie.  But in the picture of her from the actual show, she does have nice strong looking legs!  You need to do a lot of running/exercise to have nice strong legs like that.  Speaking of strong legs, I ran another 4.5 miles today, and boy do my shins hurt!  I even stopped several times to stretch them, and they still really hurt!  I’m afraid of how they’ll feel tomorrow morning!  I have the heating pad on them now, but it is going from too hot, to not hot enough!

On a second note, here’s two pictures of Pamela Anderson from Baywatch.  This is her at age 40!  Good for her for still looking amazing.  As long as she’s healthy, it’s a good thing.

I was a lifeguard for eight years.  It is NOT possible to run, much less dive into water with a bathing suit that has a back like that.  The straps would very easily slide down your arms. How embarrassing!

ALL of my bathing suits had backs like this:

That was the ONE thing that bothered me about Baywatch.

I love saving money.  Who doesn’t?  But I love it so much, I blog about it.  Oh, wait… a lot of other people do, too.  But anyway.

I went to CVS looking for a humidifier.  I’ve been having an awful time in the morning and feel awful, and my throat hurts.  They didn’t have the one I was looking for (a warm mist one, rather than a cool mist).  I had $3.50 in “extra care bucks” (CVS free money), so I knew I had to get something.  I grabbed some of those plastic dental floss things for work, (and didn’t think about it until after I bought them what a complete waste of plastic they are.  I’m ashamed.).  I then checked the coupon print out thing in the front of the store, and it gave me a $1 off any body wash or body lotion.  So I thought “well, if I can get a body wash for cheap, then I can just donate it to a food drive that’s also looking for household things.”  So I went to that aisle, and saw this one body was on sale for $2, AND you got a free body poof.  So for the poof and the wash, I would only be paying $1.  Then, my dental floss things were $2.50, bringing my total to exactly $3.50.  I handed over my little paper extra care bucks, and walked out of the store without paying anything.

Pretty damn exciting.  AND, I got a body wash to donate to someone less fortunate.  Oh, and I was at the CVS in Nashua (near my hospice house), so I didn’t have to pay sales tax.

I’m sick (swine flu?) so you get a little thought today.

I got an email from Care2: Action Alerts!  which begins:

In the last month, two Florida panthers have been killed in highway accidents, bringing the number of panther deaths in 2009 up to nine — almost 10 percent of the existing panther population.

Well, maybe the panthers should stop trying to cross the highway!

You know the old saying “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”?  Well, in Megan and Mac’s flat, the saying is more “If it ain’t 100% broke, don’t fix it.”   Megan’s bike is a five speed bike, but only four speeds works.  Their toaster also only toasts on one side.  It pops up, then you have to flip the toast over and put it down again.  Both of these things do what they’re suppose to do, just not perfectly.

Seriously, though, these things all work just fine.  That’s how they’re doing their part to help keeping things out of the landfill (they call dumpsters “skips”).  Most people would go out and buy a new toaster.   But their toaster just toasted me a delicious bagel, and her bike has been getting me in and out of town!

I will admit that sometimes they take it a BIT too far.  I’ve been helping out around the house as I can, and I try to make my bed (which is a futon, out flat, on their living/dining room floor), and I do the dishes and vacuum while they’re at work.

After dinner/breakfast, their tiny kitchen gets quite dirty.  Here, it’s loaded with dirty dishes.

This is their ENTIRE kitchen.  And they both love to cook. :(  Bottom left white thing is their fridge!!!

I was doing dishes yesterday while they were at work, and when she came home, I said “Megan, I think it’s time to get a new sponge.”  And she looked at me, and said “Yeah?  Ok.  There are new ones under the sink.”  I stared at her.  Seriously? If there are new ones, why hadn’t they gotten one out?

They let their sponge get THIS bad (see comparison), and Megan needed ME to tell her to replace it.

That’s a bit too far for my sake.

Today’s odd thought brought to you by:  The Fitchburg Longsjo Classic.

I was driving, and thinking about dying (cause sometimes those two go hand in hand).  It being my birthday, I remembered how sad it makes me to see that someone died very close to their birthday or Christmas. It makes those times extra hard.

Today, though, I had a totally different thought.  I thought that if I DID die on my birthday, it would actually make things easier on the people who loved me.

Why?

Because then they would only be reminded of me being gone one day a year.  July 2 would both be my birthday and deathday.  At least, I would assume that it would make things easier on them.

Today’s odd thought also brought to you by:  “Megan, listen to your mother.”

Happy Birthday to me!

My mom had always told me “You don’t wash mushroom, you just wet a papertowel and wipe them off.”

Well, I only remembered the “You don’t wash mushrooms.”

I ate them as is.  Dirt and all.  D’Oh!

Walked into the movie theatre with Christian to see Dragonball evolution. This lady had brought her kids, and a book and book light. I wouldn’t have had a problem if she sat in a back corner, but she was in the middle of the theatre, on the aisle.

Thoughts?

I was reading one of my blog on my RSS feed, and I wanted to share it, because it seems like great advice.  I’ve crossed out the ones that I don’t believe in, although they may be good advice for some (funny they both have to do with food).

Eat  vegetables with every meal.
Drink 2 liters of water a day.
Meditate for 15 minutes a day.
Don’t eat sugar.
Hug your kids.
Take 5 minutes to yourself to relax before bed.
Get properly fitted for a bra.
Eat real food.
Live mindfully.
Laugh.
No grains.
Dance like no one’s watching.
Do cardio first.
Work in what you love and love your work.
Be passionate.
Ask questions.
Do no harm.
Don’t be evil.
Give more than you get.
Listen first.
Never leave without a kiss.
Recycle.
Live simply.
Be kind.
Ride mass transit.
Talk to strangers.
Pray.
Love generously.

And finally, I will sign off with perhaps the best advice I’ve ever read:

The best things in life aren’t things.

Happy April Fools Day.

I have a five mile run and a hair appointment today before Lost this evening.  Today will be a good day.

This looks a LOT like my electricity monster that I saw yesterday.

My favorite part is the rat.

Megan can do some pretty amazing things in Paint.
