I went to the grocery store today for stuff for dinner, and decided to take a little walk around to see the kind of stuff I could find that was plastic free.  Here’s what I found:

These are my two options for peanut butter.  Reduced Fat Smuckers (Yum!  Reduced Fat!) or Teddie All Natural (so it separates and other great things like that.)

I took a little stroll down the juice aisle, and this is my ONLY option.  But it’s pomegranate juice, so that’s good, cause it’s good for you!  But it’s $2.99, and it looks like it’s only a liter.  So that blows.

And again, the ONLY thing down the “snack” aisle.  Iced Oatmeal Crackers, or Ginger Snaps.  These were wrapped in paper.  No thanks. Luckily, if I want cookies, I would make them homemade. Oatmeal raisin cookies can be made entirely without plastic. Which is awesome.

Two options for bar soap, so that’s good.  Caress is my favorite brand of shower gel, so I have high hopes for their bar soap.  This Yardley one is from England!

I was down the bread aisle, and I don’t really eat bread.  I do, however, eat these Multi Grain English muffins.  They only have 100 calories, but they have 8 grams of fiber!!! But they’re wrapped in plastic! Ack! What do I do!!!?? They’re good, and good for me! Dilemma. If I do want regular bread, we have a fantastic bread maker that we got for my special LID cancer diet. It makes fantastic bread.

On my 24th birthday, I got my ear pierced.  I added another cartilage piercing to my right ear.  I already had a cartilage piercing, and three other holes.  Five total earrings.

Unfortunately, the final piercing has not done very well.  It’s the one way up at the top, and it presses onto my head when I sleep.  It’s actually quite a pain in the ass, and makes me move about so I’m not lying with my ear pressed against the pillow.

It’s also gotten itself a keloid on the back.  And it hurts.  It’s been over three months since it’s been pierced, so it shouldn’t still hurt.

And thus, I have decided to remove it, and hope that it stops hurting.  But as I look at that picture, it makes me want to put it back in.  But oh the pain!!!  I have to weigh cuteness, and pain.  Cuteness and pain.  *scratches head*

I found out my water footprint for my entire family, and here are the results:

We’re pretty good here at home, we have a shower that we can turn the water pressure down while we’re shaving, or sudsing up, and another one in the kitchen.  I’ll admit, I also REALLY try to do the whole “if it’s yellow, let it mellow,” because seriously, that saves a ton of water… and having nurses as friends, I know that pee is really just colored water (and is completely sterile) and isn’t bad at all… it makes sense.  And in fact, if you’re well enough hydrated, your pee should be clear!  However, I can’t say that my mom and dad do it…. just me.  That’s why I’m really looking forward to living on my own, so I can avoid plastic by myself, and not flush the toilet, and eat whatever the hell I want, and I won’t have to worry about affecting everyone.

Crunchy Chicken is doing her annual Freeze Yer Buns contest, where participants lower their thermostate from November 1 - April 1.  She suggests 65 during the day, and much lower during the night.  I think that would be wonderful, but it’s only October here, and my hands are so cold already that I’m having a hard time typing!  Plus, I had to move one of my rings to my middle finger, cause it was sliding off my ring finger.  That’s how cold it is already!  Perhaps I should look into moving down South, so I’m always warm!

Mom and I went out early this morning and picked up tons of trash. I brought two bags, she brought only one. We filled all three.  This time, we went down North St, and then picked up trash along the Civic Center parking lot where all the college kids park.  We left the bags there, because the college has a trash can inside that shuttle stop, so when we got home, we just called and said we left bags there for them to pick up.  It was a lot easier than dragging them all home.
